Using volunteer tutors, BMAC’s Adult Literacy program offers individualized assistance for persons working on improving their basic skills. This includes, but is not limited to, one-on-one tutoring in reading, writing, math, and English comprehension, and job search assistance.
Volunteer tutors help adults learn to read or improve basic skills, and/or to prepare for ESL (English as a Second Language) and GED (Graduation Equivalency Diploma) tests.
A volunteer’s schedule is flexible; typically with 1 or 2 hours per week. Each volunteer receives approximately 10 hours of training and orientation.
