In celebration of AmeriCorps Week, we hope you’ll listen to this great interview!
Tune in to hear the latest on BMAC’s programs with our very own Cat Pond, Basic Food Outreach & AmeriCorps Director. Together, she and host, Jed Maynes, of My Columbia Basin’s Grapevine Podcast discussed the origin, reach and details of BMAC programs including basic food, AmeriCorps, SSVF (Supportive Services for Veteran Families) and more.
Cat shared some of the ways her team is focused on health education and instilling healthy behaviors within the community, pointing out that “The healthier a community is, the more prosperous it is”.
She goes on to discuss and destigmatize Basic Food Outreach benefits including SNAP/ EBT– formerly known as “food stamps”. In addition to details on signing up, Cat sheds some light on clever, more unknown ways to make SNAP benefits go further and promote healthier options.
