A meal bag is discreetly stuffed into student's backpacks each Friday and includes two breakfasts, two lunches and two snacks. Enough to bridge the weekend hunger gap.
Members of the Associated Veterinary Medical Center and the Exchange Club of Walla Walla volunteered part of their Saturday to building weekend meal backpacks for local elementary school children in need.
Last month, a group of nearly 40 built over 2,000 backpacks which were distributed to the elementary schools that are participants in our Backpack Bridge program. Our next community build is scheduled for May.
